The season will run April through May 2010 and will showcase the work of over forty professional choreographers and feature many established and emerging performing artists.
Over three weeks, varying styles of dance and dance theatre will be presented, incorporating everything from contemporary, body weather, physical theatre, ballroom, hip-hop, lyrical, classical, adagio, cultural dance, break dance and tap – there is a work to suit every taste!
Choreographic works of all styles and thematic intent are encouraged, however, the work must
be innovative, well developed, and of a professional standard. SS+Dance, encourages works by
Indigenous artists and works that celebrate our multicultural community.
Short Sweet+Dance is part of the ever expanding Short+Sweet family. The festival provides a much-needed platform for choreographers and dancers to experiment with new ideas and movement. 2011 will see Short Sweet+Dance present Shorter+Sweeter, a national touring program that will select works from previous years. 2010 is your last chance to be eligible for selection.
2010 festival shall introduce an exciting partnership between Short+Sweet and Western Sydney Dance Action (WSDA), who together will co-produce and present Short Sweet+Dance at two prominent Sydney venues -with a finale being held at Riverside Theatre’s 750 seat proscenium arch theatre!
Short Sweet+Dance are now seeking submissions from choreographers and artists to participate in the 2010 season.
