Force Majeure’s latest dance work will unfold on Surfers Paradise beach
Magical Show with over 60 performers!
Leading Australian dance theatre company Force Majeure will premiere its new spectacular dance theatre commission with 60+ performers and a beach sunset this April. And it will be as mesmerising as it is whimsical!
The one hour show will feature more than 60 Gold Coast locals performing against the spectacular backdrop of the Surfers Paradise beach sunset in the world premiere of FLOCK from 12-15 April at Festival 2018.
Force Majeure’s FLOCK is a major commission of Festival 2018, the arts and cultural festival of the Gold Coast 2018 Commonwealth Games (GC2018).
Festival 2018 Gold Coast Co-Creative Director Yaron Lifschitz says FLOCK encapsulates the third act of Festival 2018, which is called ‘Aspire’.
“Force Majeure is a premier arts company and a great example of the hotbed of innovation, creativity and aspiration within the Australian arts sector.
“There’s something inherently aspirational about large groups of people coming together to perform with a shared sense of spirit and purpose. A choreographic mass is also visually arresting – mesmerising even,” Mr Lifschitz said.
“The brief for Force Majeure was to create something entirely new, and the company has achieved that with FLOCK; it’s going to be incredibly special.”
FLOCK explores humankind’s search for meaning in the natural world.
Led by Artistic Director Danielle Micich, Force Majeure is a resident company at Carriageworks, Sydney.
Force Majeure creates works that reflect Australian life in all its diversity, by exploring and questioning contemporary culture using intelligence, humour and insight.
FLOCK is a new creation of Festival 2018, 12 action-packed days of culture taking over the Gold Coast from 4-15 April to celebrate GC2018.
