Today, WildRumpuS has announced that A Midsummer Night’s Dream Opening Night on Friday, 5 November is a special fundraising event for the Starlight Children’s Foundation. Starlight delivers innovative programs designed to make children, living with serious illness or injury, happy and lift their spirits when they need it most.
“It’s wonderful that we have this opportunity to contribute to the happiness of children and we invite Sydney families to come along and be a part of the fundraiser evening,” said Director of A Midsummer Night’s Dream, Anthony Harkin.
For two decades, Starlight has brightened the lives of seriously ill and hospitalised children, young people and their families, throughout Australia. Starlight delivers programs designed to make children happy and lift their spirits when they need it most and brings fun and laughter to children no matter what their illness or where they live.
Starlight programs are delivered both in and out of hospital, providing positive distraction to children and teenagers in their time of need. Having recognised there is a continued need to expand programs into remote areas, a research project has commenced around how best Starlight’s programs can reach out to regional communities.
A Midsummer Night’s Dream is playing at the Belvedere Amphitheatre in the fittingly whimsical Centennial Park every Friday, Saturday and Sunday throughout November for four consecutive weekends. With Marika Aubrey, Tony Cogin, Sam Haft, Frank Hansen, Ben Lewis, Torquil Neilson,
Lieschen Pogue, Melle Stewart, Joseph Sullivan
New Sydney-based theatre company, WildRumpuS is making their debut in quintessential Sydney-summer style with the open air production of Shakespeare’s A Midsummer Night’s Dream. The opening night is committed to fundraising for the children’s charity, Starlight.
Directed by Anthony Harkin, A Midsummer Night’s Dream is one of Shakespeare’s most beloved comedies. The story follows the knotty love triangle between four young Athenian lovers on the eve of the enchanted Midsummer. The lovers take flight to the nearby forest in an attempt to solve their romantic woes but their relationships and love become even more muddled when the roguish forest sprites and a troupe of amateur actors become involved.
WildRumpuS is committed to promoting the Australian culture of theatrical participation and attendance in a unique environment, with performances that are bold, irreverent and of the highest professional standard.
