B-Boy Blond to Compete in Asia Pacific Final in Korea
DanceLife reported earlier this year that Sydney’s B-Boy Blond took the crown at the Red Bull BC One Australian Cypher, cementing his place as Australia’s best breakdancer in the international series and will now represent Australia in the Red Bull BC One Asia Pacific Final on 17th October in Seoul, South Korea.
The region’s 2015 final will be hosted at AX Hall, Seoul’s prime hip-hop culture centre; previously home to iconic street culture, dance events such as the Cartel B-Boy projects and Juste Debout.
This is Blond’s second time in the competition. In 2014, Blond was the first ever Australian representative to compete in the Red Bull BC One World Finals and fans are barracking for him to progress through the rounds a second time.
“I am really excited to dance in Seoul and looking forward to competing against Asia’s best B-boys. It’s going to be a great event, but I know I will have to prepare well,” said Blond.
B-Boys representing Korea, Japan, Taiwan, Hong Kong, Singapore, Malaysia, India, Philippines, New Zealand and Australia will be competing head-to-head in knockout battles. The one-on-one battle format allows competitors to showcase their skills in the dance style – including classic breaking moves, such as the toprock, downrock, power moves and freeze – as well as their overall form and individual expression. Red Bull BC One All Stars Hong 10, RoxRite alongside Boston’s El Niño, will have the hard task of judging techniques on the night.
