Big Dance is the largest celebration of dance in the world and it’s about to hit Australia!

Initiated by the Mayor of London in 2006, this biennial event is the world’s biggest celebration of all types of dance. 2014 sees Australia take a leading role as Sydney Dance Company’s Artistic Director Rafael Bonachela has choreographed a new large-scale dance routine that will be performed by thousands in Sydney, London and Glasgow.
In Sydney, Big Dance will be held outside on the Sydney Opera House Northern Broadwalk on 13 July, with live video links to London and Glasgow via satellite.
Big Dance is for everyone – so if you jive, waltz, krump, tap, pirouette, shimmy or even just click your fingers, get involved in Australia’s biggest ever dance event!
Rehearsal sessions will be held at Connect Studios from this Saturday, so get involved!

Big Dance is a biennial festival, which was founded by the Mayor of London in 2006. In the UK it is led by the Mayor of London and Foundation for Community Dance and produced in partnership with a network of Big Dance hubs across London and the regions and nations of the UK. Big Dance 2014 is a partnership initiative led by the Greater London Authority, The Foundation for Community Dance, Sydney Dance Company, Get Scotland Dancing, Arts Council England and the British Council.
