Aussie Musical debuts Top Ten in iTunes Charts
The multi-award winning Australian musical Miracle City continues to blaze new ground for Australian music theatre, by debuting at number 8 in the Australian iTunes’ Soundtracks Charts.
In doing so, it simultaneously became the number one charting theatre soundtrack (Australian project) and highest independent soundtrack release. It shared the top ten with Pitch Perfect 2, The Fast and The Furious, and Frozen.
The album also made strong inroads into the mainstream iTunes charts, sitting in the top ten of all Australian releases, as well as the top ten of independent releases.
This live recording of Miracle City, written by the late Nick Enright and composed by Max Lambert, was taken during the Hayes Theatre’s 2014 multi award winning production.
Lambert says, “Although it’s taken nearly 20 years to get Miracle City to this stage, it’s heartening that there is now enough support for Australian musicals to have an audience for its recordings as well. Cast recordings are an essential legacy for any musical – it’s where you find their lasting audience.”
The album features Blazey Best’s award winning performance as Lora-Lee Truswell, alongside Mike McLeish, Marika Aubrey, Esther Hannaford, Josie Lane, Hilary Cole, Cameron Holmes, Peter Kowitz and Jason Kos.
“Hopefully the success of Miracle City will open the door for other cast recordings and Australian musicals in the future,” added Lambert.
