The St Petersburg Ballet’s ‘Swan Lake’
Classic Russian Ballet at its Best
In response to the extraordinary demand for tickets the internationally acclaimed St Petersburg Ballet has added an extra two shows to their Melbourne season of Swan Lake. The short season will now run from Friday June 19 to Monday June 22, 2015.
Tickets for the TWO ADDITIONAL shows on Friday 19 June at 7.30pm and Sunday 21 June at 12 noon are available though Ticketmaster.
The upcoming season of Tchaikovsky’s Swan Lake marks the first time The St Petersburg Ballet will perform in Melbourne, making this a rare opportunity for local audiences to experience a full-length, classic production of the world’s most-loved ballet.
The St Petersburg Ballet recently completed a triumphant, sold out season in Paris playing at the prestigious Théâtre des Champs-Elysées. Renowned UK dance critic Jeffrey Taylor said, “Swan Lake sweeps you away into a world of passion… The company shines”. He went on to praise Prima Ballerina Irina Kolesnikova saying, “Kolesnikova not only performs each basic step with astonishing correctness but fills the auditorium with the danger of her vulnerability and yearning for help… Kalesnikova carries us away with her seductive gifts of persuasion”.
The Melbourne season of Swan Lake is part of a successful international tour for the 55 member company. It follows performances in Perth in June. Founded in 1994, The St Petersburg Ballet is renowned globally not just for its beautiful Vaganova trained dancers but also for its stunning, grand, full-length productions complete with breathtaking scenery and magnificent costumes.
