Australia’s major events Capital, Melbourne, is set to host its third World DanceSport event in eight years. The world’s top athletes will take to the floor at the WDSF World Dance Sport Championship Standard, on Sunday 2 December at Hisense Arena. Lead up events and the 67 Australian DanceSport Championship with its own international flavour is action you will not want to miss.
Melbourne won the right to host this wonderful spectacle in Barcelona in January, 2010. Arguably the most prestigious discipline in the sport of dance. The event will attract over 220 competitors from more than 50 countries and take place as part of ‘A Festival of Dance’.

70th Anniversary of the ADS
The 67th Australian DanceSport Championship including an international ranking event in Standard and Latin.
Sunday 2 December:
The 2012 WDSF World DanceSport Championship Standard. An outstanding opening choreographed by the“world renowned” Jason Gilkison, brilliant! We will showcase our Australian style, New Vogue featuring in the final of the Australian Open. The three styles in Youth Open are included in the programme and the Australian Open Professional Latin. PLUS, for the first time anywhere in the world, an invitation President’s Cup in the Latin American style.
Australian representatives for the WDSF World Dance Sport Championship Standard are Antonio Micheli and Katerina Maximova from Victoria and Michael Glikman and Milana Deitch from NSW.
Both couples will showcase to the world the precision, control, skill and athleticism that is required for the disciplines that encompass Standard DanceSport: Modern and Viennese Waltz; Tango; Foxtrot; Quickstep. Antonio and Katerina train and live in Moscow, Russia.
They were the 2012 Victorian and Australian Champions. In 2011 they were the WDSF New Zealand, Southern Cross, Thailand Open and Australian ‘Closed’ Champions. Antonio is from Melbourne and Katerina was born in St. Petersburg. In order to reach their full potential they, train and compete extensively internationally with their long term plan to make Australia their home. Michael and Milana have been dancing together since the age of 10 – they have enjoyed huge success on a National and International level. 3 times Australian, 5 times South Pacific and 13 times National Standard and 10 dance Champions. They have represented Australia at many World events in both Standard and 10 Dance. Michael and Milana live and train in Sydney, Australia. An international event with a difference for Melbourne in December.
