Debut Production for New Queensland Company
Debut Performance Date, 3rd September
Creatif House is an arts incubator and platform created in April 2021 for South-East Queensland’s artists to be able to grow, develop and showcase their creative skills as well as create paid work opportunities for Queensland dancers.
Dynamite Studios’ Artistic Director Abbe Bradbury has created this company as a contribution to paving the way for future generations of Queensland performers and investing in their talent.
Incarnate is the inaugural production for Creatif House. It is described as a “Hot-blooded and emotionally charged one-hour show that explores provocative themes through the use of contemporary dance, featuring a cast of home grown, Gold Coast talent.”
Choreographer, Joel Murphy began his dance journey at the tender age of just eight years old on the Gold Coast, but quickly realised his future was set to be entrenched in dance. He grew up training in all genres, however, at around age twelve, truly discovered his passion for contemporary dance and choreography. After graduating high school, he went on to study his Certificate IV in dance at Dynamite Studios.
Since then, Joel has gone on to performed on stages all around the world and has been a core dancer in the films Dora and the Lost City of Gold as well as an upcoming Baz Luhrmann-directed feature film. Joel has also performed as a backup dancer on a number of occasions for Australian artists including Samantha Jade, Courtney Act, Paulini, Mitch Tambo and Alfie Arcuri.
Joel is quickly becoming known for his unique choreography style which has lead him to directing his own contemporary show with Incarnate which will now show at the Gold Coast’s HOTA on 3rd September.
