On Friday the Love Never Dies Fan Page posted:
We have some rather exciting news to share. On Thursday Sept 15th, the 8pm performance of Love Never Dies at the Regent Theatre will be filmed for worldwide release on DVD. We can’t tell you any more than this at the moment – other than to say there are still some tickets available for this performance should you want to be a part of the audience!
Having been seen by over 100 million people worldwide and taken more than US $5 billion at the box office, THE PHANTOM OF THE OPERA, is widely regarded as the single most successful piece of entertainment in history.
Now, the story of the Phantom continues in a brand new musical production, LOVE NEVER DIES.
With an award winning creative team including Director Simon Phillips (Priscilla Queen of the Desert), Choreographer Graeme Murphy, Designer Gabriela Tylesova, and one of Andrew Lloyd Webber’s finest scores to date, LOVE NEVER DIES will be the first new Australian production of an Andrew Lloyd Webber musical in nearly 20 years.
In LOVE NEVER DIES, one of the world’s greatest love stories continues.
For years the Phantom haunted the depths of the Paris Opera House and isolated himself from the world. It was not until he fell fiercely in love with a young soprano Christine Daaé that he first felt the rush of his existence. His love quickly grew into obsession, and his madness drove Christine into the arms of another – her childhood sweetheart Raoul.
The year is 1907. It is 10 years after his disappearance from the Paris Opera House and the Phantom has escaped to a new life in New York where he lives amongst the screaming joy rides and freak-shows of Coney Island.
In this new electrically-charged world, he has finally found a place for his music to soar. All that is missing is his love – Christine Daaé.
Now one of the world’s finest sopranos, Christine is struggling in an ailing marriage to Raoul. So, it is with excitement she accepts an invitation to travel to New York and perform at a renowned opera house. In a final bid to win back her love, the Phantom lures Christine, her husband, and their young son Gustave from Manhattan, to the glittering and glorious world of Coney Island… unbeknownst of what is in store for her…
Melbourne is the first city in the world to host LOVE NEVER DIES following its West End Premiere in March this year.
