When Sydney was chosen to host World Pride 2023, Jonathan Mill was approached to write and perform a follow up Cabaret piece to his sold out one man show My Life In Dance.
My Life In Dance followed Jonathan’s journey from after school ballet classes in the demountables in suburban Adelaide to the bright lights of Broadway.
My Life In The Clouds picks up the story when Jonathan, at 17, was selected to represent the fair state of South Australia amongst the Youth of the World as an exchange student attached to the United Nations in New York City, The title comes from living on the 25th floor overlooking Central Park and the times when the building would be engulfed in cloud.
A candid look at life in the greatest city in the world through the eyes of a young Gay dancer, the show explores coming out (or not), choosing a career in the theatre (or not), taking a walk on the wild side (or not) as Jonathan sings Broadway Show Tunes, Jazz Classics and even some Blondie and Lou Reed.
Accompanied by the legendary Bev Kennedy on keys, My Life In The Clouds plays for three nights only as a part of Melbourne’s Midsumma Fedtival at the Butterfly Club at 7pm on Thursday February 8th, Friday February 9th and Saturday February 10th.
