The very first musical to be presented is No Way To Treat A Lady, a musical by Douglas J Cohen and based on the novel by William Goldman. Directed by Jason Langley with Musical Direction by Michael Tyack and with a cast of musical theatre professionals, Nick Christo, Martin Crewes, Beth Daly, David Hooley and Naomi Livingston, the musical will have two presentations on Monday 15 March at the Darlinghurst Theatre. No Way To Treat A Lady, was first presented in New York in 1987 with subsequent productions in 1996 on Broadway and on the West End in 1998 amongst others.
No Way To Treat A Lady is a theatrically charged musical comedy thriller about a publicity crazed actor turned killer and the endearing detective who pursues him. The story is based on the best selling novel that became a renowned movie. It is a devilish blend of humor, romance and murder.
“No Way To Treat A Lady is a show that requires fine acting chops and resilient voices. We’ve assembled a tight, talented foursome that will bring a warmth to this piece and breathe life into these wonderfully complex characters.” said Director Jason Langley.
NEGLECTED MUSICALS is a new theatre initiative dedicated to presenting musical theatre that has never, or rarely been seen in Australia, whether it be that the musicals were not considered commercial enough for an Australian season or they just didn’t get picked up by an Australian producer.
NEGLECTED MUSICALS presents a reading of a chosen show with scripts in hand and with the musical numbers sung through, after only a few rehearsals. There will be two presentations, one in the afternoon for invited industry members and a second performance in the evening for the public. The presentations will not have set or costume design – just the book, the songs and the performers.
