Prix de Lausanne
Fifth edition of the Summer Intensive
From July 8 to 13, in the heart of the Vaud Alps, Villars-sur-Ollon will host 61 young dance talents from 20 countries and 4 continents for a week of intensive courses and coaching. The Prix de Lausanne today unveils the full list of prestigious instructors, as well as some activities offered to the public of the charming alpine resort and its surroundings.
Participants from four Continents
During the video auditions held last May, the jury of the Prix de Lausanne selected 61 dancers, who will travel to the Vaud Alps next July for a week of intensive courses and coaching, as well as an international preselection for the Prix de Lausanne 2025. In total, 20 nationalities will be represented, including 15 European ones. France and Italy are the most represented European countries with 15 and 6 participants, respectively. Additionally, 5 non-European nationalities are represented, with the United States and Japan leading, with 8 and 4 participants, respectively.
For this first international edition, all participants will compete for the preselection, at the end of which up to four of them could be granted access to the Prix de Lausanne 2025, which will take place from February 2 to 9, 2025, at the Théâtre de Beaulieu in Lausanne.
Internationally Renowned Instructors
The Summer Intensive represents a unique opportunity for each dancer to receive training and advice from professionals, allowing them to become familiar with the requirements of the Prix de Lausanne.
- Cynthia HARVEY (Freelance teacher internationally, former principal dancer of the American Ballet Theatre) will teach classical courses.
- Nicolas LE RICHE (Artistic Director of the Royal Swedish Ballet, Étoile of the Paris Opera Ballet) will teach classical courses and coach boys’ classical variations.
- Clairemarie OSTA (Teacher and ballet mistress, Étoile of the Paris Opera Ballet) will coach girls’ classical variations.
- Didy VELDMAN (Choreographer and freelance teacher, head of the contemporary program at the Royal Ballet School) will teach contemporary courses.
- Kseniya KOSAVA (Choreographer, winner of the Young Creation Award 2024) will teach her own variation.
- Alexander ALVAREZ SILVESTRE (Choreographer, finalist of the Young Creation Award 2024) will teach his own variation.
Public Activities In addition to the program reserved for workshop participants, some activities will gladly welcome dance enthusiasts in Villars-sur-Ollon:
- Wednesday, July 10, Grande Salle de Villars: Contemporary class with Didy Veldman (12:00 PM – 1:00 PM) and classical class with Kathryn Bradney, Director of the Prix de Lausanne (2:00 PM – 3:15 PM). Registrations open from June 20 to 30, 2024, via www.prixdelausanne.org.
- Friday, July 12 (7:30 PM), Grande Salle de Villars: Screening of the documentary “Le Prix” which traces the exceptional journey of four young dancers selected for the Prix de Lausanne. Directed by Alain Wirth and Nuria Manzur.
