DirtyFeet presents The Right Foot 2016
Free Dance Workshops for Young People with Disabilities
DirtyFeet is passionate about finding ways for professional artists to give back to the community. Each year, they run The Right Foot, which offers FREE contemporary dance workshops for young people with and without disability, providing a creative activity for those who may otherwise not have access to dance.
The Right Foot encourages participants to be at the helm of what they create and perform. The workshop series is an important professional pathway for aspiring young artists offering linkages to the dance sector, as well as excellent training and skills development relevant to current contemporary dance practices. The result is a platform for Sydney’s young dance artists to find their creative voice and the confidence to express their own ideas through movement.
Workshops will be led by professional artists Brianna Kell and Margot Politis in collaboration with a team of professional DirtyFeet artists. The workshops are being delivered on Saturdays in September in partnership with Riverside Theatres, at new studios in Parramatta.
“We have disabilities, but it doesn’t matter: we can all move and be together and no one cares about the differences.” 2015 participant Brianna Lowe.
DirtyFeet is committed to the professional development of young dancers with disability and passionate about finding ways for professional artists to give back to the community. We believe in the positive impact dance has on people’s lives- it is a creative way to improve health and fitness, encourage self-expression and build confidence.
